Job Description
QUALCOMM is a leader in digital mobile wireless communications and computing hardware and software products

The RTP Design Center develops advanced CPU, chip, and software technologies for the Qualcomm Snapdragon platform that is leading the industry in mobile computing performance and power efficiency.

Contribute to the next generation of Qualcomm Software and System on Chip design, by combining software development with analysis and simulation in order to create an fantastic mobile multi-media user experience. Figures of merit include features, speed, power consumption and hardware resources consumed.

Job Responsibilities:
Optimize the speed of multi-media video and audio codecs by utilizing Single Instruction Multiple Data (SIMD) engines
Integrate, debug and analyze multi-media performance running under Linux and Windows Mobile
Optimize Office, Browser & Gaming applications and other key system interactions
This work spans the range from low-level routine coding to high-level O/S integration
Evaluate and provide input into the use and design of various hardware acceleration blocks
Assist in the debug of system level issues

Skills/Experience
5 to 15 years experience in embedded systems with strong background in software development
5+ years of experience in design, development, integration & test of embedded software for mobile or multimedia targets
Good understanding of multimedia codecs, including video compression algorithms
Strong assembly language and processor system knowledge
Strong C++/C programming skills and hands-on experience on debugging embedded systems
Exposure to large scale software build, integration and test environments
Good understanding of microprocessor architecture e.g. core, cache, memory models, bus architecture, etc.
Ability to cooperatively in a team environment

Additional Skills
Real time embedded systems experience using ARM microprocessors
Familiarity with JTAG-debuggers, emulators, profilers, model environments

Education Requirements
Required: Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering
Preferred: Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering
