Planar Energy Devices is a privately held emerging technology company that is dedicated to the development and manufacture of high energy density “solid state” thin-film and large format batteries for commercial and OEM applications. Planar’s core technology will enable a new generation of lithium metal batteries that are safe, compact, and can be deployed in very flexible arrangements. We currently have an exciting new opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer at our Headquarters in Orlando, FL.
The Manufacturing Engineer will report directly to the CEO.
Responsibilities:
· Develop, implement, and maintain manufacturing processes from pilot line to scaled-up production of new battery products Manage equipment purchase and installation Improve existing operations, incorporate new methods and processes Investigate operational problems affecting production and dealing with them in a systematic, methodical manner Plan the use of resources and schedule activities in order to meet an objective Prepare manufacturing documentation required for product manufacture Coordinate projects and identify methods to reduce production costs Manage budgets Assist in producing cost estimates for new designs Liaison with research and development department, customers, and suppliers Train and supervise staff Works with regulatory bodies to ensure safety, environmental and design standards are met keeps up to date with latest technological developments and trends through reading specialist journals and attending training courses
Qualified Candidates must have:
· Bachelors in Engineering, Science, or technical degree Minimum of 5 years manufacturing experience in battery manufacturing, preferably prismatic Thin film/Semiconductor device manufacturing experience is desirable Production manufacturing, Pilot Line, and/or process engineering experience is required Understanding of specific OSHA and EPA standards as they relate to plant environments and capital equipment design required. Experience in the development of high volume manufacturing methods and fabrication processes Must possess strong mechanical aptitude, ability to use basic measuring tools, and hands-on capabilities to work on projects without supervision Familiar with ISO standards Excellent science, engineering and computer skills Strong team building and interpersonal skills are a must Some travel required
