MECHANICAL MANUFACTURING ENGINEER

Elcon is a manufacturer of custom made ceramic to metal assemblies used in various industries including Vacuum Electronics, Lasers, Microwave and Optical Packaging and Medical Devices.

Job Description;

Elcon is seeking a creative Hands On Mechanical Engineer, to develop manufacturing processes, equipment, tooling and fixtures, used to manufacture custom made furnace brazed ceramic/metal assemblies.

Responsibilities include;

1) Introduction of new concepts and methods to improve production output of metalized ceramics and electronic hybrid packages.

2) Develop methods to reduce manufacturing costs.

3) Design of fixtures and tools used in furnace brazing.

4) Participate in job costing custom orders.

5) Interact with customers and engineers on new and existing products and processes.  

6) Prepare CAD drawings for tools and fixtures used in various assemblies.

7) Prepare easy to understand process and assembly procedures for new assemblies.

8) Evaluate materials and material properties for use in prototyping/production of metalized ceramics and assemblies.

Job Requirements;

1) 5 years experience in the design of tooling and equipment in related fields.

2) Bachelor degree or equivalent with course work in materials and mechanical design.

3) Knowledge of joining ceramic to metal and glass to metal techniques.

4) Knowledge of thermal expansion of materials and their application to furnace brazing.

5) Knowledge of inks and lacquers used in the application of thick-film metallization.

6) U.S. citizen or lawful permanent residence (green card) status.
