Engineering Project Manager

Reporting to the BU VP/GM or assigned Engineering Director, this position plans, directs, coordinates and designs products for the Residential Business Unit by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates. Major Functions: Motivation of all employees to maximize individual contribution to objectives Work with vendors to obtain and design with the most current technologies available Work with vendors to foresee parts obsolescence problems and suggest and/or design solutions Write, review, and amend engineering specifications for products as needed Define, execute and manage project schedules and tasks throughout project Support product as outlined in the engineering specification with safety, functionality, agency listing, cost, and quality objectives Manage projects to deliver finished product by scheduled dates Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company's policies and applicable laws Review and recommend change to all systems, policies, and procedures as needed to enhance the mission of the organization Review and development of employees Responsible for development and management of engineering budget Work with other pieces of the Leviton organization to identify synergies that can be leveraged from a development or sales standpoint Skills and Abilities: Must be creative, innovative, resourceful, and able to think independently Must have strong mathematical, analytical and computer skills Ability to communicate effectively; cultivate and maintain relationships with customers Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables Knowledge of commercial manufacturing processes and operations Ability to plan and lead both strategic and tactical business meetings Ability to write reports and business correspondence, and create/facilitate presentations Ability to work in a highly confidential work environment Education and Experience: Bachelors degree in Engineering or related field 7-10 years of experience in a Research and Development / Engineering environment 2 -5 years experience managing large integrated developments including hardware and software Experience with lighting systems preferred Travel: Up to 15% travel for trade show, project research, and product implementation Leviton is an AA/EEO employer.
