In this role you will:•Interface with customers to understand system and software requirements for new and existing generations of products.•Work with the marketing team to define new products and product features based on customer needs, emerging standards and protocols.•Make technical presentations to Marketing, Senior Management and customers.•Participate in all aspects of the software product development including gathering requirements, detailed design, design review, and development. Work with developers on design and implementation details as appropriate.•Working with the hardware design teams, specify and drive software and system requirements into new generations of devices and systems. •Driving system-level architecture of networking software including protocols, management interfaces, and APIs.•Look for opportunities to increase efficiencies and maximize re-use.•Continuously look for improvements to the software design, and help define and promote solid software engineering processes and methodologies.•Ensure all requirements and designs are clearly documented.Qualifications:This is both a technical leadership and management role. In order to effectively drive the overall software design, you must be a proficient manager, able to effectively manage a select group of key individuals from the various sites. you must have a very deep and highly technical knowledge of networking protocols, network management systems, and low level control plane and data plane software.You must also have extensive experience with software design, development, and debugging at all levels, especially as it pertains to embedded systems. Previous experience working with new networking silicon is an asset.Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, are required. You must have a MSEE/CS with 15+ or Ph.D. with 12+ years relevant experience.
