Director of Research and Development
Summary· Technical responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating assignments.· Plans and develops engineering projects. · Involves exploration of subject area, definition of scope and selection of problems for investigation, novel concepts and approaches.· Maintains liaison with individuals and units within or outside the organization, with responsibility for acting independently on technical matters. · Work at this level requires extensive progressive experience. · Plans, organizes, and supervises the work of a staff of engineers and technicians. Evaluates progress and results obtained, recommends major changes to achieve objectives. · Responsible for project management of large product development. · Directs the work of supervisors and negotiates design tradeoffs that affect the overall product quality and function. · Understand the overall product objectives to meet the department objectives.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES:· Conceptualize, architect and document the companies product platforms, control equipment and next generation products.· Organize, implement, and control project management and administration functions· Oversees the execution of company development projects.· Develop, implement and supervise unified (standard) engineering processes, policies and methods · Provide emergency engineering assistance to all company personnel and customers· Direct and magistrate the various R&D departments to operate as a unified organization thus realizing the potential of the whole to perform excellent engineering tasks.Education & Experience: · BS Degree in Engineering, MS or PhD Degree desirable · 8-10 years experience in managing product development products.
