Job Overview:

As a key role in the organization, the position will have company-wide responsibility for environmental, health, and safety management and will report to the General Counsel of the corporation.

 

Responsibilities:

▪ Identify and evaluate occupational health risks affecting employees in the work environment as well as potential emissions of hazardous substances to the environment.

▪ Recommend corrective actions to mitigate risk and accident occurrence; interpret and advise company compliance based on internal policies and external regulations.

▪ Manage all aspects of the company’s environmental, health, and safety (EHS) program, in areas such as: OSHA compliance, compliance with local ordinances, state & federal laws.

▪ Develop and manage the company’s EHS policies and procedures; communicate with senior management, as well as local plant management and personnel.

▪ Guide, coach, and assist management to develop a “safety first” culture throughout the company.

▪ Coordinate and manage safety and environmental training for new and existing employees.

▪ Maintain safety training and incident records and documentation.

▪ Participate in accident/near miss investigations, conduct root cause analysis, job hazard analysis, establish corrective actions and follow up.

▪ Conduct safety audits of plants.

▪ Coordinate the filing of all accident, worker’s comp, legal issues, general liability reports, to ensure all investigations were properly conducted and reported.

▪ Interface with insurance brokers and carriers on safety improvements and risk reduction. 

▪ Coordinate and monitor company response to worldwide electronic waste disposal regulations.

 

Qualifications:

▪ Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline related to Environmental Health & Safety.  Master's degree in a related scientific discipline preferred.

▪ CSP and CIH certification preferred.

▪ Minimum of 10 years experience in Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) management within a manufacturing environment.

▪ Previous experience as Director of Environmental, Health and Safety for a manufacturing company with facilities located worldwide.

▪ Experience in designing/ developing EHS policies and procedures.

▪ Track record of success in improving safety.

▪ Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment on multiple tasks.

▪ Outstanding communication; ability to present effectively to plant personnel and large groups.

▪ Positive and proactive approach to EHS.

▪ Thorough understanding of all governmental regulations covering environmental health & safety.

▪ Understanding of industrial hygiene, workplace exposure controls, and monitoring environmental health.

▪ Persistence to successfully overcome challenges and roadblocks to meet objectives.

▪ Ability to lead a diverse workforce, work in and lead a team, and provide an effective and efficient work environment.

▪ Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under frequently changing priorities.

▪ Ability to travel to other company locations on short notice.
