Director, PC Software Development

AuthenTec's products are silicon fingerprint sensors deployed globally in numerous end applications and systems including PCs, cell phones, PDAs and access control. Software is an essential and key deliverable that enables the use of fingerprint sensors in end products. The software components include complex drivers to support the sensors, fingerprint matching algorithms, security features and infrastructure to support fingerprint biometric authentication in third party applications. The Director of PC Software Development must have very diverse experience at the hands-on level and the management level, as well as the ability to manage change in this rapidly growing and evolving market.

Responsibilities:Manage, motivate and grow the software team in accordance with the needs of the businessEstablish software product development specifications and priorities in close collaboration with the product marketing teams, silicon engineering and scientific teamsDirect the day-to-day schedule priorities of the teamDevelop/maintain infrastructure and processes that balance entrepreneurial spontaneity and innovation with the need to deliver high quality software on time and within budgetLead the software technical direction and make overall architectural and design tradeoffs with inputs from the team Compile resource plans and development schedules for on time, in budget executionEnsure a high standard of quality for deliverable software by the application of efficient practices and working closely with the test departmentWork closely with the IT department, expand tools, systems infrastructure and process for the effective development and configuration management of product software consistent with the growth plans of the businessProvide strong inputs and innovation to the product roadmaps in close collaboration with the product marketing teams Work closely with the silicon engineering teams in product definition, test and integrationEngage and manage software subcontractors for timely project execution where appropriate Manage and integrate the activities of offshore, software engineering employees. Some overseas travel is required.

 

Required Education/Experience:BS in a computing related field12 years in a software development role6 years in a senior software management positionStrong management, leadership and communications skillsStrong technical skills with hands on capabilityDelivery and support of software for consumer products shipping in volumeSoftware development on Windows PCs at both the applications and driver component levelsDemonstrable capability and track record in all areas of the responsibilities
