Defect Metrology Project Manager
JOB SUMMARY:
Develop and maintain a comprehensive assessment of the current state of defect control, both from a process and a metrology perspective. Benchmark advanced defect metrology tools using SEMATECH consensus specifications to determine capability and extendibility of the toolsets. Identify key issues that need to be addressed to support the ITRS Roadmap. Based on reviews with the Metrology Council – Defect Metrology Advisory Group (DMAG) and the Metrology Program Advisory Group, recommend a comprehensive course of action for ISMI. Develop and manage approved metrology projects.
The job encompasses a broad range of responsibilities and people interactions.
The overall objective is to provide ISMI participants with improved manufacturing productivity,
reduced manufacturing costs, infrastructure for new processes and materials, and quality data to
assist in manufacturing technology selections through ISMI facilitated workshops. Proper
execution of this task requires close interaction with other project managers and working group
members in the area of Fab and Equipment Productivity. Project coordination skills are essential.
The job is moderately complex technically, requiring a broad familiarity with semiconductor
equipment and fab operations and knowledge of issues in the industry. The candidate needs to be
capable of leading highly diverse activities in this topic space and be capable of interacting with
subject experts as well as management within all ISMI member companies. Multinational
communication skills and culture recognition is a must. Candidate must also serve as the key onsite
coordinator (liaison) for the participant company to the CIP Program and maintain ultimate
responsibility for the participant company satisfaction with project output.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position requires a high degree of self-motivation to execute a plan for the assessment of the state of process defect control and management of the resulting projects. An understanding of semiconductor processes, defect metrology, silicon processing, and defect metrology equipment suppliers is necessary.
In consultation with the DMAG, develop and maintain unified defect metrology tool specifications and tool capability assessments.
Review the results of the metrology assessment work with member company advisory groups.
Give technical presentations and represent SEMATECH at global industry events.
Monitor pertinent research contracts.
Additional assignments may be added as they become necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Position requires a minimum of ten years experience in semiconductor manufacturing with at least three years direct process defect detection / reduction experience with a broad knowledge of defect metrology. BS/MS or PhD in technical discipline, e.g.;Chemistry, Physics is preferred.
Position requires the assessment of metrology capabilities, need understanding of statistics involved with measurement capability analysis.
Applicant must have some experience in Visual Basic for Excel, Matlab and SAS Jump analysis packages.
Knowledge of the metrology equipment community is desired. It is preferred that candidate have industry contacts with defect metrology equipment suppliers.
Must have good people skills to effectively interface with participant company members and with suppliers.
Applicant must have experience presenting at technical industry conferences.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS: 10 % TravelFirst Shift 40 hours per week, overtime and flexible hours may be required.
