Credit & Collections Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for implementation and maintenance of the company's credit and collections policies to maximize sales, improve collections of customer accounts receivable and reduce risk of collectability.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

1. Process credit applications to include credit checks and investigations and establish credit limitations on customer accounts.

2. Administer shipment credit hold system.

3. Track and monitor corporate aging and collections accounts.

4. Prepare and conduct monthly Credit Committee meetings.

5. Prepare monthly analysis of collectability of outstanding accounts receivable and provide allowance reserve balance to Management for approval.

6. Negotiate and prepare payment agreements on accounts with Slow Pay status.

7. Review with manager the delinquent accounts considered to be uncollectible to ensure maximum efforts have been taken before assigning to an outside agency.

8. Submit delinquent accounts to attorney or outside agency for collection where appropriate.

9. Prepare monthly accounts receivable reports required for Management Reporting package.

10. Prepare and submit weekly delinquent customer reports according to State Gaming regulations.

11. Assist Purchasing and Accounts Payable with providing credit and financial background/stability checks on vendors.

12. Establish and maintain effective relationships with sales and service staff and all levels of customer contacts.

13. Ensure maintenance of customer credit and collections documentation to support audit and legal requirements.

14. Prepare any other ad hoc reports or analysis as assigned by the Revenue Manager or Controller.

 

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

Education/Experience:

BS/BA Degree or equivalent experience.

3-5 years of accounting or financial experience.

Prior credit granting and collection experience required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of the collection process.

Credit and financial analysis skills.

Excellent Microsoft Excel Skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as negotiating skills.

Must possess a strong business ethic and thrive in a dynamic and changing environment.

Strong problem solving and analytical skills.

Ability to proactively identify problems and propose solutions.
