COMPETITIVE ANALYST
Our wireless manufacturing client based in Raleigh, North Carolina, has an immediate opening for a COMPETITIVE ANALYST.
This position will own the process of competitive analysis as well as its execution and dissemination. The Competitive Analyst is responsible for completing and maintaining all quantitative analysis regarding both the competitive landscape and the market situation in all of the states and countries in which my client does systems business. The Competitive Analyst will also communicate this information routinely to other internal organizations (such as Executive Management, Regulatory Affairs, Marketing, Sales, Proposal Development and Product Management).
Primary Duties:
· Perform market research using direct sources, and by organization information gathered around the company by sales execs, product managers and others.
· Perform win/loss analysis on opportunities.
· Develop comparison snapshots and trend analysis of competitors’ pricing, product development, marketing efforts, and financial performance. Create and maintain a database charting the development of the products of our key competitors. Include a summary of changes taken over time, frequency of change, and trends experienced for frequency and severity by coverage and by market. Changes must be understood in conjunction with performance.
· Develop and maintain a knowledge base that includes competitive information, as well as relevant regulatory actions.
· Provide regular updates to Field Sales summarizing regulatory, competitor actions and the implications on the market. Train Field Sales staff to enable them to counter competitive market actions, to respond consistently, and to clearly articulate differentiating factors.
· Collaborate on the development and maintenance of sales tools and collateral to highlight EnergyAxis strengths. Assist with marketing messaging and proposals.
· Provide training and support to the Executive, Product Management, Marketing, Proposal Development, and Field Sales on relevant competitive topics.
· Provide business requirements input to Product Management for future product enhancements.
Education and Experience Requirements for Success:
The ideal candidate should possess all of the following:
· Superior research skills
· Superior presentation and communication skills, both written and oral
· Self-direction and ability to work quickly and independently
· Solid business/marketing sense
· Ability to execute the database, provide training, and provide value to the team in collaborative projects
· Strong project management and coordination skills, and ability to excel in a fluid, cross-functional team environment.
· Self-motivated with strong attention to detail.
This position requires a four-year degree in a relevant technical or business field and 5+ years of relevant experience such as competitive analysis, utility industry analysis, or consulting. MBA or other graduate degree, a plus.
Additionally ---
· Knowledge of the utility industry and/or AMI system competition is highly desireable.
· Experience dealing with Executive Management, Customers, Marketing, and Sales organizations is strongly desired. Must be willing to travel (domestic and international if needed) to get first-hand understanding of competition, customer requirements, etc.Experience in high-tech, systems, or engineering solutions is desired (Energy or Utility Business experience strongly preferred). Capability to quickly grasp high-tech concepts a must.
