Business Development Manager - Document Imaging
In the United States, Panasonic Communications Company of North America (PCCNA), a unit of Panasonic Corporation of North America, markets a broad line of digital imaging systems, computer peripherals and office system products designed specifically for business use. Products available include color and monochrome digital copiers and network multifunction devices, fax and Internet fax machines, document management systems, scanners, electronic whiteboards, color and monochrome laser printers and impact printers. Headquartered in Secaucus, NJ, Panasonic Corporation of North America is the principal North American subsidiary of Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. of Osaka, Japan.Currently, the Panasonic Communications Company of North America (PCCNA) is seeking to hire a full time Business Development Manager for the Document Imaging vertical market based on the West Coast.BASIC FUNCTION:Responsible to develop and maintain an in depth knowledge of the Document Imaging vertical market. Collaborate with internal and external sales and marketing teams to develop the strategies that will best maximize the business in this vertical assignment. Establish relationships with System Integrators, Software companies and Large Contractors in the specified vertical market, by recommending our products for sales growth and improved profitability.ACCOUNTABILITIES:1. Vertical Market Development Activities:a. Build and maintain relationships with key partners, who may be End Users, System Integrators, Software Companies or Contractors participating in the specific vertical market for the use of our products. These activities would include proposals of marketing solutions to customers and/or new business development solutions.b. Establish credibility of our products for use in applications, solutions proposed and sold by key partners; create demand for our product so that it is recommended, approved and sold by our partners. Influence them to have preference for and to purchase Panasonic products.c. Identify new opportunities and trends in the market; collaborate with other Panasonic sales companies to find synergy with their efforts in the specified vertical market.d. Collaborate with sales team to develop a consistent vertical message. Determine the best utilization of resources to support that message.Marketing Activities2. Marketing Activities:a. Develop and implement a sales and marketing strategy; collaborate with PCCNA HQ Marketing group to ensure alignment with organization and best practice. Create programs for the specified vertical market which will facilitate the sales growth of our products.b. Develop vertical marketing plan ensuring the activities support the vertical sales strategy and support the vertical message.c. Collect, analyze and disseminate data that identifies the vertical customers including product trends, competitive information/activities, pricing, etc as required by sales team. Utilize this information to develop a strategy plan and make recommendations on how to best address the market to maximize business.d. Promote and publish success stories to gain exposure of the applications and awareness in general of Panasonic presence in the Document Imaging applications.e. Create end user demand; plan, promote and participate in events in the specified vertical market with the end users or key players or as Panasonic only.3. Customer Prospecting:a. Evaluate and identify the players in the specified vertical market for use of our products. b. Seek the key authorities to recommend, approve and purchase our products.Sales Support Activities:4. Sales Support Activities:a. Support the National Sales team in their selling efforts in the specified vertical market. As the subject matter expert in the respective vertical, this role will be responsible for educating the sales force and partners on how to best sell into this market.b. Monitor and coordinate the sales staff implementation of the strategies and tactics necessary to maximize business in the specified vertical market. This may include, but is not limited to, giving presentations, taking part in professional association activities, evaluate trade shows, trade magazines, etc. that are part of the specified vertical market.5. Special Projects:a. Additional projects will be assigned as business need arises.BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:1. Scope:a. Reports to: Business Unit Managerb. Staff: Independent Contributor2. Education and Experience:a. Bachelor degree preferred; concentration in business administration, marketing, or sales.b. 5 years + work experience in sales, business development or product management role.c. Demonstrated expertise and experience in working in specified vertical market - Document Imaging.d. Scanner industry strongly preferred.e. Document management software experience strongly preferredf. MS office ? Excel, PowerPoint, Access/database management3. Key Competencies:a. Ability to interface with all levels of management, internally and externally, in a professional mannerb. Presentation skillsc.
