Currently we have an opening for a Authoring Engineer to work in our Universal City location. POSITION SUMMARYResponsible for programming Blu-ray Disc titles and creating master files for delivery to replication facilities. Script BD playback flow, prepare/compile digital assets, implement on-screen navigation, and perform build/emulation troubleshooting.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS?Develop thorough understanding of title development process, digital assets, and BD specifications. ?Develop and program BD HDMV and BD-Java titles in compliance with client specifications and BD authoring standards.?Customize templates to suit individual title requirements and specifications.?Determine optimum menu navigation flow with respect to graphic layout ?Troubleshoot and analyze problems with client assets, project emulation, and check disc?Support R&D Engineers in the analysis of playability problems as required.?Assist R&D Engineers in testing of new authoring templates, systems, and processes.?Collaborate with the Compression staff to ensure video bit streams comply with MPEG standards, BD specifications, and client requirements.?Provide technical assistance with client vendor meetings as necessary?Assist Project Management in establishing and managing project timelines.?Maintain communication with Project Manager regarding project status?Create project backups, masters, and documentation as necessary. EDUCATIONBachelors degree required, BS CS/CE/EE or related preferred.EXPERIENCE/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS ?Demonstrated knowledge of HTML, SQL, and JAVA programming languages required.?Three or more years experience in DVD authoring of ?A? titles for major Hollywood studios using professional grade authoring system (i.e. Scenarist, Panasonic, Toshiba or Sony).?Background in other forms of multimedia programming or DVD producing a plus.?HD experience a plus?Advanced operating knowledge of WinNT/2000/XP required. - General understanding of networks and servers required.?Experience of network programming TCP/IP a plus.?Experience using PhotoShop and basic graphical editing skills required.?Knowledge of audio/video encoding processes and quality assurance testing highly desirable.?Knowledge home theatre set up highly desirable?Must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.?Excellent problem solving skills required.?Strong time management and multitasking skills required.
