A-Machine Control Technician

Specific Responsibilities:

1. Perform design, installation, modification, troubleshooting and repair activities on various machines and pieces of manufacturing equipment. Respond to emergency situations involving machine operations, clearly evaluate problems under pressure and resolve the issue.

2. Use electronic test equipment to anticipate, identify and isolate machine malfunctions and breakdowns. 3. Perform diagnostic test to identify and resolve problems before affecting machine tolerances and efficiency.

4. Develop and maintain maintenance schedules and machine histories in the Preventive Maintenance software. (MAXIMO)

5. Receive and implement machine modification request from engineering in the form of sketches, verbal or written instruction.

6. Develop monthly reports for supervisors conveying machine repair status and projected maintenance.

7. Ensure that machine electrical components necessary to perform repairs and maintenance are on hand by periodically checking crib inventory stock levels. Place order with appropriate vender as necessary.

8. Inspect, test, program, and maintain the electrical aspects of all manufacturing and facility equipment. 9. Ensure all electrical safety codes/regulations are met.

10. Performs duties and responsibilities as described in the quality system.

11. Perform other job-related functions as required by the supervisor in support of departmental goals.

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Skills or experience with personal computers, including electronic E-mail, personal scheduling, word processing and electronic spreadsheet skills.

• Ability to read schematics and wire diagrams.

• Problem solving skills are required.

• Ability to detect and correct the malfunctions in the trades involved.

• Ability to plan, schedule and coordinate work and initiate improvements in equipment operation.

• Ability to be self motivated and work independently.

• Ability to respond to emergencies involving machine operations and clearly evaluate problems under pressure.

• Good oral and written skills needed to relate to various internal customers and vendors.

• Skill in the care and use of the tools and equipment used in the trades involved.

• Considerable knowledge in the methods, materials, tools and practices used in the electrical trade.

 

Education/Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent

• 2 years of electrical technical training, Associate’s degree with related technical field preferred

• 4 years experience machine electrical work

Functional Requirements:

• Must have the ability to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger.

• Must be able to handle, feel, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl.

• Must be able to manipulate a computer keyboard

• Must also be able to effectively communicate within a manufacturing environment.

• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

• Must have good vision with the ability to adjust to focus, have color vision, close vision, and distance vision, with or without correction.

• Must have the ability to maneuver in a manufacturing facility.
