3G Embedded Module Carrier Acceptance Test Lead
Job Description
Candidate will be working with next generation 3G wireless data devices based on cdma2000 1X, EvDO and UMTS. Candidate with handset or embedded module test experience with major 1x/EvDO operators or system test experience with commercial handset OEMs is preferred for this position. Candidate will provide carrier acceptance features, lab and/or field tests as per Verizon and Sprint requirements. Will also analyze logs and troubleshoot failures based on 1x/EvDO 3GPP standards.
This position requires familiarity with 1x, EvDO or UMTS protocols test standards as per TIA 898, 919 and 3GPP2 34.123 test standards. Candidate with familiarity with operator acceptance process is a plus. Candidate with experience in executing tests on commercial test equipments is a plus.
Responsibilities include supporting product testing for next generation 3G wireless embedded modules. Must have hands on test experience with wireless data devices based on above technologies; terminal acceptance test experience with Verizon, Vodafone, Cingular or Sprint is desirable.
Responsibilities will include handset s/w testing as per CDMA2000 or UMTS commercial operator test requirements.
Candidate will also be responsible to execute and coordinate test activities in the lab and in the operator networks, develop test plan as per carrier requirements, data performance evaluations of wireless devices, over the air (OTA) BS integration (BSI)/interop testing (IOT/IOP and IODT), compile test results and generate test reports.
Skills/Experience
Must have good verbal and written communication skills. Must have ability to work in cross-functional team environment with Product Managers and design team and coordinate testing with H/W and S/W engineers for failure analysis and on customer issues.
Master's degree in Electrical Engineering plus a minimum of three years of 2G and 3G mobile handset test industry experience, or Bachelor's degree plus four to five years of hands on experience in combination of 1x,1xEvDO or UMTS handset carrier acceptance tests.
Candidate will assist writing detail test plans for wireless data performance and advanced data features as supported by commercial 1x and UMTS operators. All testing will be geared towards embedded modules with laptops.
Additional Skills
Candidates with the following experience would be a plus:
Familiarity of the Verizon, Cingular, Sprint or Vodafone carrier test requirement,
Executing tests on commercial test equipments,
Working knowledge of TIA/EIA/IS-2000 (1X), TIA/EIA/IS-856 (1X EV) protocols and 3GPP UMTS Specs,
Familiarity with Qualcomm DM tools QXDM, QPST.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or Computer Engineering required.
