Become a NYC Teaching Fellow

The NYC Teaching Fellows program is actively recruiting high-quality, dedicated individuals to become teachers who raise student achievement in the New York City classrooms that need them most. The program is designed so that Fellows are fast-tracked into full-time teaching positions in a New York City public school. Within a few months of becoming a Fellow, you can be making a real impact.

NYC Teaching Fellows are committed to raising achievement for all students in New York City, regardless of their background or socio-economic status. By teaching in schools and subject areas that are traditionally hard-to-staff, NYC Teaching Fellows concentrate their talents in the areas where they can have the most impact. Fellows are closing the achievement gap and providing an excellent education for hundreds of thousands of children. One in ten teachers in the New York City school system is a Teaching Fellow.

NYC Teaching Fellows come from all different backgrounds and careers such as law, finance, advertising, healthcare, and academia.  You could be a recent college graduate or have worked in an industry for many years.  Through the Fellows program, you can use your experience, knowledge, and achievements to positively affect the lives of students. Fellows teach a variety of subject areas based on their qualifications. Each Fellow will continue his/her own education through a subsidized Master's degree program. No previous teaching experience or education coursework is necessary.

Over 9,000 current teachers have come through the Teaching Fellows program. As a Fellow, you will have access to this community, as well as mentors from your university and school where you teach.
