University Director of Financial Aid
Columbia University was founded in 1754 as King’s College by royal charter of King George II of England. It is the oldest institution of higher learning in the state of New York and the fifth oldest in the United States. Columbia University has 5,000 full-time officers of instruction and research, and 8,000 full-time administrative staff, making Columbia one of the top employers in New York City.

Reporting to the Associate Vice President of Student Administrative Services, the University Director of Financial Aid (UDFA) leads the university community in the development of financial aid policy, programs, operations and business processes. The University Director is responsible for developing a strategy for organizing, staffing, reporting and structuring to comply with governance and regulations. The UDFA will collaborate with the Provost Office, the individual schools and the Finance Division to analyze trends and allocate aid across the various schools. The University Director chairs the University's financial aid directors group, and serves as a proactive liaison between the university office of financial aid and the financial aid offices within the 17 schools of Columbia University, across the Medical Center and Morningside campuses. The UDFA works collaboratively with the deans of students, the directors of admissions and the central student services staff to ensure a high level of service and compliance in the end-to-end process. The University Director is responsible for centralized oversight of customer service and processing for financial aid operations and is responsible for ensuring quality service to students, families, and other constituents in regard to financial aid matters. Over 9500 students receive financial aid totaling over $312M each year at Columbia University. The University Director is responsible for overall management and leadership necessary for effective administration of the Title VI, Title VII and Columbia's student financial aid programs. The University Director develops and completes reports for the U.S. Department of Education, New York State Education Department, and all other federal, state, association and institutional reporting bodies. The University Director directly supervises professional and support staff and has matrix responsibility for all financial aid professionals. The UDFA is responsible for a budget of approximateky $675K.
