Responsibilities:

 Candidate must be knowledgeable with all areas of travel: Airlines, Hotels, Car Rental Agencies, Temporary Housing, Car/Coach Services, Banquet/Event Reservations and Seminar Registrations. Domestic and InternationalThe ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, sound decision-making abilities, and excellent attention to detail and take pride in their assignmentsCandidate must be able to effectively negotiate with vendors, set up agreements and review contractsCommunicate effectively with all levels of management, personnel and vendors. Build and maintain close relationships with key personnel and vendorsMust have the ability to work independently, manage their time well and enjoy working in a close and fast-paced team environmentUnderstand the needs and cycles of a busy educational environmentUnderstand budgets and assist departments with inquiriesMonitor industry news and trends for assigned commoditiesCoordinate and execute supplier assessments and performance review sessionsSolicits bids, analyze quotations received, and selects or recommends purchasesNegotiate with suppliersProactively manage contracts with follow up and schedule renewalsCreate Purchase OrdersPerform special projects, additional duties and responsibilities as assignedAdd/Update to Purchasing Policies and Procedures as necessary

 

Requirements:College degree preferredProficient in MS Office (Word, Outlook and Excel) Familiarity with Cliqbook or similar on line reservation system (Sabre based) helpfulExperience in corporate travel department or travel agency strongly preferredGeneral Purchasing background helpful to handle other commodities as assigned
