Teacher - International College Prep School
JOB TITLE: Teacher
NATURE AND SCOPE OF JOB:
Each teacher will be responsible for offering instruction in a specific subject area, as well as offering guidance and support to students while they live on campus. Teachers will also maintain discipline, promote cohesiveness among dorm residents, and manage students on a one-to-one basis. The teaching staff is a leadership partner to all LAUPA staff and students.Duties:
* Educates students by planning and developing course of study according to curriculum guidelines; school district and state requirements.
* Tailors course of study by developing modifications for several levels of academic ability and previous achievement.
* Develops and presents lesson plans by using a variety of techniques, including lectures, projects, audiovisual and library resources, computers, and the internet.
* Monitors, assists, corrects, and grades student results by preparing assignments and tests for in-school preparation and homework; conducting standardized tests
* Maintains order in the classroom by counseling students with behavioral problems;
* Maintains safe, secure, and healthy educational environment
* Intercepts deterioration in achievement by counseling students with academic difficulties; drawing on the school system's resources for additional academic assistance.
* Provide student support services by monitoring halls, study periods, and lunchroom; sponsoring student organizations or activities.
* Enhances school's reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
QUALIFICATIONS
1.                 Appropriate student interaction skills in small group and 1:1 settings
2.                 Flexible and reliable
3.                 Strong desire to make a difference in the lives of students
4.                 Possess problem solving skills and a strong sense of initiative
5.                 Bachelor’s degree in education or related field. Master’s degree preferred
6.                 Valid Teaching Certificate in the state of domicile
7.                 Able to live in Nigeria for the duration of the school year with approved breaks
8.                 High Standardized test scores are required for SAT and ACT prep teachers
9.                 5-10 Years teaching experience preferred
10.             Exposure to living or working outside of the U.S.
