Description:Purpose of the Job/Principal ResponsibilitiesAs a member of the Systems Operations & Engineering team, the Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for administration, installation, monitoring and trouble shooting of Kaplan Higher Education Email (Exchange, Blackberry and SMTP) and Messaging (LCS/OCS) systems.Responsibilities Include: oMaintain and troubleshoot mission-critical mail and messaging systems including hardware, OS, clustering, and established third-party applications (forefront, postini)oDeployment of application changes and upgrades.oPerforms upgrades to operating systems, mail and messaging.oMonitors and tunes the system to achieve optimum performance levels.oAutomate routine processes and tasks using scripting techniques.oEnsures server data integrity by evaluating, implementing and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions. oDevelops and promotes standard operating procedures. oConducts routine hardware and software audits of servers to develop and maintain comprehensive configuration documentation database/library. oEvaluate email software and hardware for installation in production environmentoPlan and manage email and messaging installationsoDocument proposed solutions and plan for monitoring and maintaining the messaging applicationExperience Required:o3+ yrs of Exchange administration experience oBS in technology, computer science or equivalent experienceoExtensive knowledge in Active Directory, WINS, DNSoExperience with scripting (PowerShell preferred)oExperience documenting systems and processesQualifications:See Job DescriptionSalary/Benefits: Salary commensurate with experienceFull time employees enjoy these outstanding benefits: *401(k) plan *Comprehensive health, dental and short term disability & long term disability plans *Business casual dress code *Sick days, personal days, holidays, and vacation days *A friendly, team oriented environmentJob Location: Fort Lauderdale, FLJob Number: RUSAKAP4218-610319Company URL: http://www.kaplan.eduCompany Profile:Kaplan University is an institution of higher learning dedicated to providing innovative undergraduate, graduate, and continuing professional education.
