Students Accounts Manager

BASIC FUNCTION: Responsible for the timely collection and posting of student payments. Assist students in applying for additional resources to assist them in making their payment. Provide budget counseling to incoming students. JOB SPECIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent is required. Some college is preferred. Previous experience in collections preferred. Requirements include strong commitment to customer service. Good organizational, interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills are also required. Basic computer skills are required. SUPERVISORY DIMENSIONS: None. NUMBER OF EMPLOYEES SUPERVISED: Direct: 0 Indirect: 0 EXTERNAL CONTACTS: Daily phone, email, and personal contact with students regarding student accounts as well as frequent phone calls with National Loan Servicing Center. INTERNAL CONTACTS: Frequent phone and personal contact with Admissions, Registration, Financial Aid, Student Services, and Career Services departments. DECISION MAKING RESPONSIBILITIES: Some decision making skills required. CONSEQUENCES OF ERRORS: Failure to maintain job activity on a consistent basis negatively impacts performance of Student Accounts Department. EXPOSURE TO CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION: Exposure to personal information including names, addresses, phone numbers, birthdays, and social security numbers.   KEY ACTIVITIES: Monitor Past Due Reports and contact delinquent students for satisfactory payment arrangements. Hold contests & Promotions to encourage on-time payments. Process alternative loan applications and counsel students on the importance of obtaining qualified cosigners. Re-write payment contracts. Collect weekly, monthly, and quarterly payments. Process daily bank deposits. Conduct Budget training with all incoming students.
