Student Achievement Coordinator – Advanced Academics

Founded in 2000 and headquartered in Bricktown, Oklahoma City, Okla., Advanced Academics, a company affiliate of DeVry, Inc. partners with school districts to help high school students graduate and succeed. Advanced Academics supplements traditional classroom programs through online course instruction using highly qualified teachers and a proprietary technology platform specifically designed for secondary education. Advanced Academics also operates virtual high schools in partnership with school districts and charter schools in 6 states.

Position Summary The Student Achievement Coordinator is the day-to-day individual responsible for student orientation, retention and satisfaction. He/she accomplishes this by making welcoming contact, providing continuous and regular advising and serving as the liaison for Advanced Academics offerings to a cohort of students enrolled in Advanced Academics’ direct-to-student accounts. Advising includes facilitating the handoff of the new student from the Advanced Academics Admissions Team and ensuring that course selection and graduation plan is completed and communicated to the student by the Advanced Academics Education Department in a timely manner. The Student Achievement Coordinator is also responsible for coordinating a student orientation, monitoring student progress and working with the student on a weekly basis to keep the student on track to complete courses within the allotted timeframe and continue progress towards graduation. The Student Achievement Coordinator should understand and follow standard operation procedures and guidelines developed for each program in which his or her students are enrolled.

Experience and Skills Prior experience working with students or young people in either an online or site-based setting; ideally some background in customer service, support or counseling.

Ability to understand and teach the use of Web-based technology via phone and Web-conference.

Commitment to helping students succeed academically and develop a strong relationship that will provide them with a single point-of-contact to address education, technology or other barriers that could hinder satisfactory progress towards graduation.

Capability to work across departments to find resolution to issues that might inhibit student learning and success.

Working knowledge and competence with Microsoft Office tools: Word, Excel, PowerPoint; plus experience with online applications.

Must be able to work flexible hours.

Bilingual preferred.
