SPECIAL ASSISTANT TO THE PRESIDENT

 

 

FULL-TIME POSITION, REPORTS TO THE PRESIDENT

 

 

Starting Date: September 1, 2008 preferable.

Salary:  Competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.

 

·  Supervision

Position supervises the Executive Assistant and Speech-writing Staff

 

·  Qualifications

Academic: Bachelor’s degree required; Advanced degree desirable.

Experience:   Minimum five years of administrative or high-level consultative experience with progressive responsibilities; experience in communications and/or higher education administration desirable.

 

 

·  Serves as Chief of Staff for:

 Presidential Initiatives

▫ On behalf of the President, oversees the coordination of strategic plan implementation in collaboration with appropriate offices and administrators.

▫ Provides liaison activities on behalf of the President with external agencies and constituencies, especially concerning strategic initiatives, with an emphasis on national and international policy and relations.

 Activities Involving the President

▫ Engages the President effectively among all constituencies and stakeholders.

▫ Oversees planning for high-level (non-routine) presidential meetings and events.

▫ Oversees Presidential visits and travel including planning, preparation, and needs with respect to visit itineraries. Accompanies President as appropriate.

 Presidential Communication

▫ Oversees Presidential communication including speeches and remarks, interviews and appearances.

▫ Collaborates with internal and external agencies and advises university units on communication matters involving the President.

 Other activities as Directed by the President

▫ Assists with regular and ad-hoc activities/tasks requiring President’s Office liaison and oversight. Takes lead where appropriate.

▫ Assists with proposal development in connection with special initiatives, resource development, and emerging opportunities. Takes lead where appropriate.
