Senior Learning Designer

Principal Duties and Responsibilities Collaborate with internal design teams to stimulate breakthrough design thinking in creating programs, processes and products that support leadership development.  Convert research into innovative developmental experiences that are unique and relevant. Work with internal and external learning and development professionals in training design, materials development, delivery, evaluation, and follow-up. Recommend appropriate instructional approaches and methods. Advise internal and external designers/instructors on tailoring needed to maximize relevance and learning transfer. Apply sound design methodology and strategies and adult learning principles to: Identify client leadership development needs. Break down those needs to determine what must be developed and convert findings into goals, outcomes and objectives. Decide on sequencing of instruction and instructional strategies. Identify appropriate instructional methodologies and technologies. Tailor the mix of learning modalities to maximize relevance and learning transfer. Create design documents to specify objectives, sequencing of instruction, course content, source materials, and instructional strategies based on needs analysis and target audience. Design and develop learning materials—Facilitator Guides, Participant Guides, Quick Reference Guides, Job Aids, and Audio/Video scripts. Collaborate with colleagues worldwide to actively leverage best practices from across the enterprise on various learning programs, skills, and technologies. Facilitate consensus and manage business relationships with learning project stakeholders. Initiate, find, develop contracts, and supervise external vendors. Work with internal technology department.  Keep abreast of developments in the learning design and learning technologies.Specific Knowledge, Skills and Knowledge Requirements Knowledge of instructional design methodologies, adult learning principles, human behavior and performance, methods for curriculum and training design, and the measurement of training effectiveness. Experience conducting organizational level, program level, and individual level needs analysis to identify needs and target program development. Experience designing complex developmental interventions such as action learning processes, multi-phased initiatives blended solutions, and highly interactive, creative simulations. Experience designing developmental experiences for a globally diverse audience. Ability to apply creativity techniques to the design process. Knowledge of common e-Learning development software. Knowledge of video, audio, and Web 2.0 technologies for learning. Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) to support instructional design Highly effective time and project management skills. Ability to supervise vendors and contract workers. Working knowledge of impact evaluation. Strong group facilitation skills. (No classroom facilitation.) Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment. Ability to organize, prioritize, coordinate, and implement multiple projects. Strong business acumen with an understanding of corporate and team dynamics. Ability to work in ambiguous and fast-paced environments. Ability to learn and achieve high comfort level with new technologies. Some travel is required.QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Master’s Degree in instructional design, instructional technology, learning methods, educational technology or related field. Minimum 7 years experience working in the learning design field in an educational, corporate training, or professional services environment.  Proven track record and portfolio of design projects.
