School Bus Dispatcher / Office Manager

 

Job Purpose:

 

Insures the safe and orderly pick up and return of students from their homes to schools. Supervises the driving staff as well as the bus attendants. Maintains DOT files on all employees subject to NJ State inspections. 

Duties:

 

* Supervises the hiring and termination of all Drivers and Attendants needed to fill contracted routes. Insures that company policy and procedures are being followed at all times.

 

* Supervises dispatch of all routes, as well as field trips and after school programs and or athletics. Maintains knowledge of various schools start and dismissal times as well as complete knowledge of their geographic locations.

 

* Maintains all personnel files on Drivers and Attendants. Must submit and maintain paperwork in compliance with all NJDOT regulations, including Criminal History checks through the NJ Dept. of Education.

* Troubleshoots issues and complaints by parents and/or school staff.

* Works directly with Drivers and Attendants to insure that policy and procedures are strictly adhered to, issuing warnings and in some cases terminating employees that do not comply. Holds frequent meetings with staff.

 

* Works directly with and reports directly to company's General Manager. Participates in frequent meetings to resolve issues and to work as liaison between Management and Driving Staff.

 

 

*Maintains full knowledge of vehicle readiness status, by communicating directly with Garage Staff (mechanics) throughout the day.

 

* Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.

 

* Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
