POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

The Blackboard K-12 Inside Sales Team is responsible for full account management in an assigned territory with key additional responsibilities.  Focus on account and territory development/growth using extensive product and technology knowledge and selling skills.  Develop and implement a territory plan to achieve assigned sales, marketing and editorial goals.  Mentor and provide general guidance and assistance to other inside sales representatives.  Typically works under limited supervision.

The Sales Manager (SM) will play an integral role in the success of the group.  Specifically s/he will:Identify, contact, track and close business to achieve annual quota targets.Perform prospecting activities and lead management activities including cold calling and inbound call/email follow-up.  14 hours of any given 40-hour week must be spent making sales calls to new prospects.Participate in territory planning activities with the RSM(s)Participate in campaign development and follow-up with appropriate individuals from MarketingDrive attendance to various Blackboard sponsored events and staff conferences as requiredHelp coordinate/arrange meetings for RSMs with key prospectsIdentify upsell and cross-sell opportunities from existing client baseReport on market trends and competition to appropriate individualsMaintain accurate prospecting/opportunity/account information in Blackboard’s sales automation tool.Demonstrate a high level of proficiency in all Blackboard Academic Suite products/services and must be able to speak intelligently when discussing Commerce Suite offerings.Consistently communicate with other members of your team.


 Required Experience

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED SKILLS: 1 – 3 years of software sales or marketing experience preferably in the K-12 industry, but not required.Minimum of a Bachelor’s degreeExcellent written and verbal communication skillsMust be highly organized and able to prioritizeMust be able to travel up to 25% of the time depending on territory demands
