SUPERVISOR, FINANCIAL AID DISBURSEMENTS
Under the general direction of the Financial Aid Business Officer, the Disbursements Supervisor is responsible for the interpretation of and compliance with federal and state rules and regulations governing the disbursement of financial aid funds. Major responsibilities include coordinating, recommending, and implementing effective disbursement methods. Designs, reviews, and prepares analytical reports and reconciles all federal and state financial aid programs, scholarships, and emergency loan programs. Supervises the day-to-day operations of the unit, including cash management of the funds.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Working knowledge of financial record-keeping methods, state and federal record-keeping rules, and generally accepted accounting principles. A thorough knowledge of financial aid regulations for state and federal programs is strongly preferred. Ability to manage the Disbursements Office workload and supervise a full-time staff of four along with part-time student workers while integrating the numerous and diverse demands of a busy office. Expertise in analyzing problems and complexities associated with automated financial systems. Ability to work independently and within a team, accept responsibility, and see projects through to success. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a commitment to customer service.
Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assists in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Equivalent to a bachelor's degree and three years of related experience required. A degree in business or a relevant field with a minimum of three years supervisory experience strongly preferred.
