The Company:

Outside The Classroom is the pioneer and leading provider of alcohol prevention programs and strategic services for institutions of higher education.  Founded in 2000 and based outside Boston, Outside The Classroom has developed a suite of science-based prevention programs, online education tools and support services to  address one of the most pressing public health epidemics facing our nation’s youth—high-risking drinking.  Through its flagship program, AlcoholEdu®, the company has reached more than a million students at over 500 campuses in all 50 states, achieving dramatic results.

Outside The Classroom is a unique organization—a rapidly growing, venture-backed, for-profit company with commitment to achieving and measuring social change for the organizations it serves.

As part of the company’s growth strategy and commitment to innovation, we are launching a new initiative—The Alcohol Prevention Coalition—which will change the way institutions of higher education think about and manage their alcohol related risk.  We are seeking exceptional talent to help us execute on our vision by developing insights and content to help alcohol prevention and student affairs professionals drive positive change on campuses nationwide.

 Position Overview:

Supporting the research efforts of the Partner Education team, the Research Associate will conduct primary and secondary research in the field of alcohol prevention.  The ideal candidate has a strong liberal arts background, qualitative and quantitative research abilities, and an interest in applying their research skills to analyze business strategies and practices.

Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

· Review and analyze existing business and academic literature, industry reports and publications to identify emerging trends and potential leads for follow-up interviews

· Schedule and participate in research interviews to uncover best practices and gather detailed case studies

· Take ownership of discrete research tasks, which may include: finding and analyzing key data points, providing context for case studies, and identifying relevant out-of-industry content to support research hypotheses

· Participate in all team analytic exercises, helping to advance team thinking and develop new frameworks for teaching research insights

· Assist in the creation of research deliverables (presentation, briefings, case studies) that meet the highest quality standards

Qualifications/Requirements:

· Exceptional primary and secondary research skills, with an emphasis on the ability to synthesize vast amounts of information and distill large volumes of content into key findings

· Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; ability to articulate complex concepts clearly and concisely

· Superior analytical skills and comfort with both quantitative and qualitative analysis

· Exceptional organizational skills, including ability to balance multiple tasks, and attention to detail

· Resourcefulness, flexibility and an entrepreneurial spirit

· Experience in business analysis or market research preferred

· Undergraduate degree required with strong academic record
