ResponsibilitiesÂ
     Â
The Research Analyst will be coordinating, managing and conducting activities for various research, evaluation and development projects with a team of professionals. The Research Analyst will be responsible for organizing and carrying out evaluation activities, including managing projects and providing support for senior staff, on various education-related projects. This position will be based in our New York City headquarters. The specific tasks for which the Research Analyst will be responsible include the following:Â
Â
¨      Analyze, interpret, and write up qualitative and quantitative data;
¨      Present data using graphic and tabular displays;
¨      Prepare literature reviews;
¨      Develop instruments such as surveys, interview protocols, and questionnaires;
¨      Conduct observations of classrooms, professional development activities, parent workshops, meetings and other events;
¨      Conduct focus groups and individual interviews with students, staff, and parents;
¨      Collect, review, and synthesize program documentation;
¨      Communicate with clients on data collection issues;
¨      Assist in the writing of evaluation reports; and
¨      Participate in promotional activities such as the preparation of proposals and grant applications.

Skills and Abilities
Â
·        Education and Prior Work Experience
Master’s degree in a targeted field (e.g., Education, Research and Evaluation, Sociology, Public Policy) or related social science field and a minimum of two years of successful work experience in a research or evaluation setting, -OR- Bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least three years of successful work experience in a research or evaluation setting

Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
Bilingual English and Spanish a plusÂ

·        Organization Skills
Ability to take initiative and independently manage several tasks and projects simultaneously with attention to detail

Ability to work collaboratively within a team environmentÂ

·        Technical and Other Skills
Proficiency of Microsoft Office applications

Strong knowledge of statistics (e.g., t-test, frequency distributions), including knowledge of software packages used for data analysis and presentation of findings (e.g., SPSS)

Strong knowledge of qualitative research methods (e.g. interviews, focus groups, observations) and data analysis
Â
Familiarity with public education issues and/or child welfare
