Responsibilities
Under the general supervision of the Receipt and Resource Control Group supervisor within the Non-Print Management Dept, carry out as instructed an agreed combination of the following duties: Receive, check-in, route and process library materials received in the Department, using the Librarys computer management system. Monitor and claim, where appropriate, missing journal and e-journal issues. Handle tracking of subscription renewal information. Resolve problems with shipments and with receipt records. Track and undertake database amendments as appropriate following changes to serial titles. Carry out all database operations related to added volumes and copies. Handle returns to vendors for material not needing replacement. Receive and process Government depository material and maintain and update all associated records, including shipping lists and Marcive records. Perform copy cataloging. Assist in planning, implementing, supervising and maintaining digital library projects, including e-archiving. Assist in the supervision and fulfillment of Library mail collection, sorting, and delivery. Supervise and train casual staff, including student workers, and provide documentation as directed. Participate in the testing and evaluation of new software applications and system upgrades. Provide documentation, reports and gather statistics as directed. Perform such other duties as may from time to time be required.
Qualifications
Some college required (2 years preferred), minimum of 2 years related experience, including supervisory experience, preferably in an automated library, subscription or purchasing agency environment. Excellent organizational, analytical, communication, supervisory, and interpersonal skills. Aptitude for accurate, detailed, quantitative work essential. Ability to work independently, with frequent interruptions. Knowledge of bibliographic components, publishing, foreign languages, and relevant technology (including the Internet) preferred. Ability to work effectively with a diverse staff and clientele, and to function well in a team environment. Keyboarding and some desktop software application skills preferred (e.g. web browsers, Adobe, Microsoft Office). Ability to lift heavy book cartons and to push fully loaded book trucks.
