Post Doctoral Research Associate
Purpose of position: To design, fabricate, and characterize MEMS microsensors for a biomedical application: piezoresistive force sensors, capacitive MEMS acceleration sensors. Communicating the procedures and results in oral and written formats in professional forums.
Essential functions: Research Fabricate pressure sensors and microaccelerometers. Characterize their performance. Propose ways to tackle research projects; interpret process & characterization results & suggest solutions. Equipment: Provide help and assistance to clean room equipment engineers in maintenance of process equipment. Suggest & implement modifications to process equipment. Education and Training: Provide education, training, and supervision to graduate research assistants as needed.
Marginal/Incidental functions: Other functions as assigned.
Required qualifications: Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or physics. 3 years of experience in a microfabrication facility, microelectromechanical systems, or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience from which comparable skills can be acquired. Familiar with operation and maintenance of a microfabrication facility. Familiar with semiconductor processing equipment and processes. Knowledge of microelectronics and MEMS fabrication processes. Excellent communication skills: both oral and written. Strong work ethic with creative outcome expectations. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred qualifications: Experience on software packages for MEMS design and modeling. Experience with force sensor and accelerometer design, fabrication and testing. Experience with clean room equipment.

Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation. Use of manual dexterity. Climbing of stairs. Security Sensitive; criminal background check conducted.
