Plumbing Supervisor
Description:The Facilities & Construction Management organization at NYU is responsible for seamless, end-to-end delivery of all building construction, operations and maintenance services. The team is organized by four key functional areas: Real Estate Services; the Office of Construction Management; Energy, Engineering & Technical Services; and Facilities Management. These groups are supported by dedicated Human Resources, Financial Management & Technology groups. Employees work to deliver the safest, best value, highest quality learning, research and residential environments possible to enable faculty and students to do their best work unimpeded and without distraction or risk. Today the F&CM HR & Central Office is seeking a skilled Plumbing Supervisor!The Plumbing Supervisor, under direction of the Manager, MEP Services, will supervise skilled service employees performing plumbing work. The incumbent will recommend new hire selection, disciplinary action or other personnel action and review plans and specifications. Duties also include estimating costs and determining sequence of work. The incumbent to this position will also assign, supervise and perform scheduled plumbing work, and preventative maintenance and emergency repairs.
Qualifications:Primary needs of the position are a High School Diploma and a New York City Master Plumbers License. Candidates must have 5 to 10 years practical, hands-on experience in the plumbing trade. Experience as a maintenance mechanic on plant, building, and plumbing systems, needed. The position requires knowledge of a Maintenance Management Work Order System (such as Maximus) and of University Purchasing Systems. Candidates should have the ability to effectively supervise assigned staff as a group or on an individual basis. Sound, independent judgment and problem-solving skills and excellent people skills are key. Substantial skills in maintenance and repair procedures including preventive maintenance, breakdown repair, and trouble shooting are required. It will be necessary for applicants to have the expertise to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings and specifications. It will be essential to work effectively in a service oriented environment subject to frequently changing priorities. Thorough knowledge of applicable codes and regulations, as well as Departmental and University policies, procedures and practices will be required to carry responsibilities.
