Part Time Financial Aid Advisor
The primary responsibility of the Part Time Financial Aid Advisor is to assist in determining and obtaining appropriate funding for new students. Other duties may be assigned by the Financial Aid Director. Advisor is responsible for maintaining the stated Financial Aid Department goals of Compliance, Customer Service, and Cash Flow. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Future Student Financial Aid a.) Set up test date and provide Financial Aid packets to future students. b.) Process, award and complete future student financial aid eligibility in accordance to federal, state and institutional regulations. c.) Certify and input students and/or parent loans via E2. d.) Input all Financial Aid information into database system. e.) Contacts students regarding corrections or incomplete documents in files. f.) Prepare and attend registration and orientation upon each start. 2. Assist Financial Aid Officers a.) Assisting the officers in seeing in-school and active students on the directive list. 4. Financial Aid Transcript a.) Works with other colleges in obtaining financial aid transcripts for students b.) Checks NSLDS for electronic financial aid transcripts. c.) Verify students FA eligibility based on the FAT information. 5. Awarding Aid a.) Checks NSLDS for electronic financial aid transcripts. b.) Federal Campus Based Aid Award Federal Supplementary Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG) and Perkins Loans to future student based on written policy. c.) Assist student in processing applicable gap financing as well as state Grants, scholarships, tuition assistance, and other funding resource.. 6. Special projects and additional tasks a.) Works on special projects as assigned by supervisor. b.) Meets deadlines for proposals, project implementation and project termination activities and reports. c.) Attends additional meetings as assigned by supervisor. JOB QUALIFICATIONS · Knowledge: Basic knowledge of computers and data entry. · Skill: Customer Service oriented. · Education: High School Diploma or equivalency. · Experience: none. · Ability: o Ability to weigh the big picture against detailed parts of the larger project or situation. o Ability to judge that which requires consultation, and at what level, and that which can be decided without consultation. o Ability to perform basic math, e.g., percents, addition, subtraction. o Strong problem-solving abilities essential. o Ability to work with all types of people, to assume facilitator and occasionally lead role, and to affect timely submissions from others required. o Ability to multi-task, and change project priorities. o Ability to work independently. o Ability to communicate professionally, with clarity and brevity, required--both orally and in writing. o Ability to self-start and self-monitor work projects. o Ability to balance urgency of assignments and timelines, with “patient prodding” of others.
