About the Position
Reporting to the Organizational Development & Training Analyst, and working under direct supervision, the Organizational Development & Training Assistant performs a variety of basic to moderate administrative duties in support of the Organizational Development and Training unit. Primary responsibilities will be to communicate, coordinate, organize, schedule, and document educational and training programs for employees of San Jose State and provide administrative support as requested by the Analyst and Manager.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Act as the customer service representative for the unit, responding to inquiries
- Update course material and the online course calendar
- Act as liaison with Purchasing, Accounts Payable, vendors, consultants
- Assist with gathering of data for meetings, focus groups, and events
- Coordinate events and set up with catering, stakeholders, and other key players
- Maintain databases

Education and Experience
We require a high school diploma or equivalent and one year of office support experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Thorough knowledge of methods, procedures and practices; English grammar, business writing, punctuation and spelling.
- Ability to compose and appropriately format correspondence and reports.
- Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including spreadsheet, database management.
- Strong presentation skills and an ability to work with individuals and groups at all levels of the organization.
- Strong ability to handle multiple work priorities, organize and plan work and projects.
- Ability to quickly learn and apply a variety of state, federal, CSU, and SJSU policies and procedures.
- Strong oral, written, and intrapersonal communication skills. Must possess excellent customer service and public relations skills.
- Knowledge of organization strategy, department strategy and unit role
- Ability to work both as a team player and independently.
- Ability to use basic audio/visual equipment and CBT equipment in classroom presentations.

Preferred Qualifications
We prefer experience working a fast-paced environment, experience providing a high level of customer service, and experience in positions with high level of customer contact. Candidates must also have experience with database software and Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
