ABOUT US:

 

At Pontiac Academy for Excellence we strive to provide a quality education for inner-city children and their families. PAE offers a variety of support services from reading and math recovery to special education, as well as a variety of extra curricular activities

 

Pontiac Academy for Excellence opened its doors in the fall of 2000. Our enrollment has steadily grown and is now around 1100 students in our K-12th grade programs. We have been recognized by the Michigan Association of Public School Academies (MAPSA)as one of the most progressive charter schools in the state of Michigan.

 

POSITON: Middle School Math Teacher

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned. Teaches District approved curriculum Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated. Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students. Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students. Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior. Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and –in harmony with the goals—establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects and the like to communicate these objectives to students. Diagnoses the learning disabilities of students. Evaluates pupils’ academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports. Is available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Supervises classroom and students

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor of Arts degree.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate

Subject/Grade level: Mathematics (EX) 6-12
