Job Summary/Basic Function:
Performs basic laboratory tests, particularly hematology (CBC with manual diffs) and point of care tests, as requested by Wellesley College Health Service clinicians. Prepares patient specimens for transport to reference laboratory for analysis. Retrieves laboratory test results and matches with medical records, alerting clinicians to critical values or abnormal results in a timely fashion. Performs basic quality control, proficiency testing and quality assurance in order to comply with state requirements and voluntary laboratory accreditation. Assists in reconciling laboratory statistics, maintaining supply inventory, and equipment maintenance. Schedule: Twenty hours per week, 9 months (Sept-May).

Minimum Qualifications:
Appropriate associates degree or allied health degree. MLT(ASCP) or CLT(NCA) Registration Required. Skilled phlebotomist; experience in performing EKG's, a plus. Computer proficiency with Word and Excel is helpful. Excellent organizational skills and ability to work independently. Knowledge of and fluency in medical terminology. Must be able to work effectively in a culturally diverse environment.
