Math Teacher, Virtual High School

Description:The Full Time instructor is responsible for implementing appropriate teaching and grading strategies that assist each student in achieving their academic potential while also providing superior customer service to all internal and external customers.Typical activities include: - Assists the Instructional Team Leaders with development of the annual strategic process for the UMOHS respective department.- Paces assigned students according to school pacing plans to maintain student retention- Grade student work as prescribed by KVE using pedagogical strategies and established KVE grading rubrics that contribute to a climate where students are "actively engaged" in meaningful learning experiences.- Work with principal and other KVE instructors to produce learning experiences suited to the grade level and to the student developmental level that will enhance student achievement.- Maintains once a month (minimum) phone contact with students and parents.- Provide feedback on graded assignments, in which students are encouraged to be actively engaged in the learning process.- Use effective written communication skills with students on a regular basis. - Model professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents and community.- Review contemporary educational literature to remain current with information related to job responsibility.- Respond promptly (within same day or 24 hours) when returning telephone calls and replying to correspondence, emails, instant messages, and faxes.- Meet established deadlines.A likely activities breakdown (must equal 100%): - Provides instruction to students in subject area(s) including grading 60%- Manages student/parent experience which includes student pace mgmt 25%- Liaising with Department Teachers and others in same subject area 10%- Preparing reports and Standard Operating Procedures 5%Qualifications:Experience Required: - A minimum of 3 years teaching experience.- Professional certification in subject area.Position Requirements /Scope of the Job/ Skills Required: - Strong knowledge of subject area certification.- Knowledge of school policies and procedures.- Excellent written and oral communication skills.- Emphasis on excellent written and verbal communication.- Ability to provide superior customer service with emphasis on communication.- Ability to maintain a professional demeanor in a fast-paced environment.- Ability to interact professionally and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders.- Ability to maintain confidentiality.- Ability to plan and organize work.- Ability to use internet browsers and communicate through e-mail. - Ability to have access to a computer and high speed Internet connection at home.Salary/Benefits: Salary commensurate with experienceBenefits available for those who qualify: - Immediate health and dental plans- Sick days, holidays, and vacation days- 401(k) Plan- Flexible Spending Account- Life and Business Travel Accident Insurance - Long-term Disability- Group Legal Services- Financial Planning EOEJob Location: Remote, FLJob Number: RUSAKAP8211-609278Company URL: http://www.kaplanvirtualeducation.comCompany Profile:Kaplan Virtual Education (KVE) is a leader in the growing field of virtual high school instruction and online curriculum development.
