MIS Project Manager/Systems Administrator

The Booksource, St. Louis based, family-owned educational trade book wholesaler, is the premier source for classroom literature to K-12 schools across the country. We have approximately 215 employees covering 3 divisions at 4 separate locations. Objective: Manage IT infrastructure for all Booksource Divisions. This includes end user support, systems administration, and IT project management.. Qualifications: Requires a bachelor’s degree or 5 years plus related experience. Must be familiar with a variety of IT concepts, practices and procedures. Works independently and relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. REPORTING RESPONSIBILITY: Reports to COO RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: 1. Maintain and enhance network performance. 2. Maintain all MS network servers. 3. Maintain a database of patch panel locations (patch panel and locations to marked correctly and clearly) 4. Maintain daily backups of all servers in St. Louis and Berkeley. This includes verification that automated backups are occurring. Maintain month end backups, year end backups, and offsite storage of backups. 5. Sets up, configures, and supports internal and/or external networks. 6. Develops and maintains all systems, applications, security, and network configurations. 7. Troubleshoots network performance issues and creates and maintains a disaster recovery plan. 8. Recommends upgrades, patches and new applications and equipment. 9. Provide end user support specifically with regard to: a. New user setup on the network. b. New PC acquisition and setup. c. Network maintenance. d. Initial phone support (problems with phones, phone extension moves) e. Voice mail support. f. Email setup and support. g. VPN setup and support. h. Printer troubleshooting, ribbon and toner changes, printer supports though third party vendors. i. Scanners, scales, and terminal support. The Booksource offers a great environment in which to work.
