Job Category: Education/Training CONTACT INFORMATION Job Description Labor Mgmt Lead Consultant The 1199SEIU TRAINING AND EMPLOYMENT FUNDS is a joint effort of 1199SEIU and contributing employers. Our mission is to develop high quality training, placement and labor-management initiatives. Through our efforts we aim to support the potential of healthcare workers to grow educationally and make a full contribution to building an efficient and caring health care industry. We also aim to develop the ability of union and management to problem-solve difficult issues and to create innovative solutions. Through our work we intend to create a world-class healthcare workforce and service delivery system. We are currently seeking an experienced RN Labor Management Lead Consultant for our Labor Management Initiatives department.   Responsibilities Assist with the development and implementation of strategies, promotional and program delivery efforts that will achieve Labor Management Program’s mission Provide Organizational Development consulting support for complex and difficult client projects involving labor-management relationships and joint projects Champion projects that enhance learning across institutions and support innovative practices with measurable outcomes; in areas such as process improvement, customer service/employee satisfaction, etc. Support culture change and process improvement initiatives in the industry and individual hospitals and homes by five broad methods involving application of state of the art organizational development and organizational improvement methods and technologies through: (a) Direct senior level consulting at hospitals and with industry-union leadership groups, (b) Recruiting, selecting, training and supporting staff who provide direct consulting, (c) Identifying, vetting and managing external consultants who provide direct consulting, (d) Training (and/or identifying, vetting and managing providers to train) institution level staff, managers and union representatives (e) Conducting best practice conferences. (f) Lead research activities to identify and utilize advances in areas related to the Fund’s cultural change and process improvement initiatives. Track and report measurable outcomes that identify the success of the Project; utilize available technology to maximize effectiveness. Manage the project achieving the maximum utilization of resources to achieve the project goals while operating within budget. Oversee institutional and industry level project progress (utilizing available technology to maximize effectiveness to track, report and facilitate follow up of measurable outcomes that demonstrate the effect of the project) and train others to do the same.    Special Projects as assigned Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Development, or similar required; Master’s degree preferred; plus Minimum six (6) years relevant work experience leading Labor Management initiatives and/or organization development, to include practical experience supervising/directing professional staff and application of state of the art process improvement and change techniques such as Six Sigma, etc. Demonstrated leadership and initiative in healthcare settings and/or experience driving organizational development. Commitment to labor-management participation and/or participative approaches. Experience developing participative processes. Must have the ability to exercise considerable judgment and discretion in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with labor and management. Good experience developing, and implementing strategies, policies and procedures Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, conflict resolution, and quality improvement and writing skills Ability to remain impartial when handling management and/or Union issues. Good computer skills, ability to handle fast-paced setting, multiple tasks, and develop and maintain strong rapport with multiple clients and constituents.
