NEW MEDIA SPECIALIST - Keene State College, one of the few public colleges in New England to offer a degree in journalism, invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position of Assistant Professor of Journalism in a thriving, humanities-centered, multi-disciplinary department.

 

Primary responsibilities will include advising the school’s award winning newspaper and teaching undergraduate classes to students interested in Journalism and Communication. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, scholarly activity, academic advising and service. Teaching assignments will include beginning and advanced journalism classes, as well as the possibility of teaching in the college's Integrative Studies Program, a transformational general education approach. (Learn more about the Integrative Studies Program at: http://www.keene.edu/isp/.) Applicants must be able to teach beginning and advanced Photojournalism, as well as introductory Graphic/Web Design. The possibility of teaching Web Writing and other new media courses is desirable.

 

Qualifications: Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in Journalism or Communication, or have an M.F.A. with a news media emphasis. Applicants may also be A.B.D. or near completion of their M.F.A. with their terminal degree to be in hand by June 1, 2010. A Ph.D. or M.F.A. is required for Assistant Professor rank and tenure; A.B.D. and those completing their M.F.A. will be considered for Instructor’s rank.
