PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF JOB

 

This position provides leadership and support in planning, implementing, and tracking strategies to expand the National Center for Learning Disabilities’ (NCLD) Individual Giving Program.  The Individual Giving Officer supports development efforts by continuing to grow NCLD’s individual giving program, with specific emphasis on cultivation and solicitation of family foundations and major gifts.  S/he plans and implements strategies to engage Board members and other volunteers in fundraising activities, and plans and manages donor cultivation events.  The Individual Giving Officer also plans and implements an in-house direct response program and further is responsible for the reconciliation process between the fundraising and finance departments.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILTIES

 

·         Motivate prospects and donors to embrace and support the mission and programs of NCLD

·         Identify and form new relationships for the organization through cultivation and outreach

·         Manage Annual Benefit and serve as liaison between Benefit consultant, NCLD staff and volunteers

·         Leverage Annual Benefit Dinner fundraising efforts through increased cultivation and outreach

·         Identify and research major gifts prospects including planning and implementation strategies to cultivate and solicit donors of $5,000+

·         Assist Associate Executive Director of External Relations with board research and development as needed

·         Plan and implement fundraising and board engagement events.

·         Manage NCLD's direct response program by overseeing solicitations and messaging promoting NCLD’s mission

·         Develop strategies for an integrated FRIENDS program that encompasses direct mail, on-line giving and individual donors

·         Develop a standard operating procedure for all acknowledgments, coordinating with the Executive Director’s office

·         Manage the process and reconciliation of all donations between the fundraising and finance departments

·         Develop plan to promote work-place giving programs (CFC/United Way)

·         Assist Director of External Relations and Development with miscellaneous projects as assigned

 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

 

·         Ability to energetically and accurately represent NCLD to a variety of constituents including Board of Directors, Benefit Committee, Direct Mail donors and Family Foundations

·         Preferred candidates will have five years experience in Major Gifts and Direct Mail, as well as a solid track record in donor relations. Strong written and oral skills are essential for this position as well as the ability to think analytically and work cross- departmentally

·         Preferred candidate is proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point and has extensive experience with Raiser’s Edge and generating donation reports
