IT jobs USA: Scientific Programmer
We seek applicants for a Scientific Programmer to join Professor Shaevitz's laboratory as a computational research specialist for a one-year period (September 2011- September 2012). We have recently begun a large scale project to study animal behavior using data-driven approaches from statistical physics and seek a programmer to assist in analysis and hardware design.
Specific duties include:
-Implement data analysis algorithms as requested by the Principal Investigator.
-Design and implement a data storage platform for high throughout behavioral experiments.
Essential Qualifications:
-B.S. in math, physics, computer science, statistics, engineering or related field
-Very strong math/statistical background.
-Ability to quickly and efficiently implement algorithms and statistical methods.
- The successful candidate must be able to work productively in a team environment, communicate effectively with people of varying technical backgrounds, and be able to adjust to the rapidly changing needs of researchers.
Preferred Qualifications:
-MatLab experience with data mining and/or signal processing
-Biophysics background
