IT Senior Business Analyst
Elicit complex requirements (business, functional, non-functional, and technical) using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, task and workflow analysis. Supports more junior team members in similar tasks.
Document and maintain requirements by performing requirements analysis and developing & specifying detailed requirements according to standard templates, using natural language. Supports more junior team members in similar tasks.
Proactively communicate and collaborate with external and internal customers to analyze information needs and requirements and deliver and maintain SDLC analysis artifacts as needed (including state diagrams, use cases, UI prototypes, entity relationship diagrams, data dictionaries, etc). Supports more junior team members in similar tasks.
Collaborate with IT team members and subject matter experts to establish the technical vision and develop an understanding of business problems and opportunities in the context of the requirements and recommend solutions that enable the organization to achieve its goals. Perform enterprise analysis to understand the needs of the business as a whole, its strategic direction and identify initiatives to enable the business to meet its strategic goals. Supports more junior team members in similar tasks.
Conduct feasibility studies to develop recommendations for implementation of new systems, and, where appropriate, introduction of alternative computer hardware and software solutions. Assist users with streamlining of department automation by review current software and recommending appropriate changes. Review and evaluate users’ department requests for system modification and recommend action/alternatives to appropriate management. Supports more junior team members in similar tasks.
Establish partnership with stakeholders across the organization and act as liaison among the stakeholders for specific projects and operational tasks.
Evaluate, develop, recommend, and implement upon approval and in a timely, efficient manner the budget for stakeholders to include all major hardware and software information systems. Supports more junior team members in similar tasks.
Position Requirements
Bachelors Degree with 8 years of experience in an IT or software development environment doing business analysis, project management, test development and management, and user engagement support, OR Masters Degree with 6 years of experience in an IT or software development environment doing business analysis, project management, test development and management, and user engagement support.
2-3 years of general management experience.
Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, executives, managers, and subject matter experts.
Ability to work independently and as part of a cohesive team.
Ability to perform business analysis and understand the needs of the business as a whole and it’s strategic direction.
Ability to elicit complex requirements by employing a variety of techniques.
Ability to develop and specify complex requirements at the correct level of detail to allow successful implementation.
Ability to develop and maintain clear and concise analysis documentation for complex projects including process flow diagrams, detailed use cases and activity diagrams.
Ability to perform solution assessment and validation by verifying the correctness of a proposed solution, how to assess possible shortcomings of a solution and how to support the implementation of a solution.
Demonstrated experience in the vendor selection process to include preparation and evaluation of Request for Information (RFI) and Request for Proposal (RFP) documents.
Ability to successfully engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously.
Demonstrate strong analytical skills, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements.
Ability to take broad directions and prioritize and accomplish a broad range of tasks without the necessity for detailed directions.
Demonstrated ability to remain flexible in a demanding work environment and to adapt to a rapidly changing environment.
Excellent time management skills to plan, organize, and manage complex projects.
Demonstrated development and maintenance of a variety of analysis documentation types – state diagrams, use cases, UI prototypes, relationship diagrams, data dictionaries, etc.
Able to provide work samples that include analysis artifacts such as state diagrams, use cases, UI prototypes, relationship diagrams, data dictionaries, etc.
Able to provide work samples that show clear and concise business writing style.
Educational Requirements
Bachelors Degree in Management Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, Business Process Re-engineering or closely related field.
