Human Resource Specialist
Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and the Offices of Human Resources invite applications for a Specialist to assist the Human Resource Director in labor/employee relations. This HR Specialist will research labor market trends, extract, manipulate, analyze and interpret internal and external data to help with benchmarking. The Specialist will organize, design and execute a broad range of equity studies as assigned by the Director. The Human Resource Specialist will coordinate and monitor the University’s drug and alcohol testing policy. The position will also conduct background investigations along with reference checks to assist with the hiring process.
Ideal candidates will possess a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Human Resources or a closely related field. A master’s degree in a relevant area is preferred. A minimum of 1-2 years of progressively responsible leadership experience in human resource administration, compensation systems, report writing techniques, benchmarking strategies, labor relations, policy and program development, and/or employee/faculty relations is required. Excellent writing and communications skills are required.
