HR/Safety Coordinator, University Housing--University of Iowa

University Housing is seeking a HR/Safety Coordinator to join an expanding Human Resources team.   The qualified individual will be primarily responsible for the continuous improvement of safety and health in University Housing by developing and implementing standardized safety programs in accordance to OSHA, University and departmental regulations, policies and procedures.  Assist in the management of Workers' Compensation cases and return to work programs.  Cross train with other HR staff in areas such as payroll, student recruitment efforts, FMLA administration and other areas as assigned to ensure consistency and service in operational activities.  Ability to function in a work environment that includes climbing, stooping, working at heights and traveling various distances in and between the residence halls and University Apartments.  Must exercise confidentiality and discretion within the areas of assignment.

 

Qualifications required are a Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety; Human Resources, Industrial Relations or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and related human resources/safety experience; some (6 months – 1 year) related human resources and safety administrative experience; and excellent verbal and written communication skills. 

Must be proficient in computer software applications (i.e., Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
