 About Gymboree

For over 30 years, Gymboree Play & Music has led the way in early childhood play, music and arts classes for children ages newborn to 5 years and their parents. If you are a high energy, confident team player and crave an outlet for your music, theatre or child development loves, and you are good at working with children, Gymboree Play & Music is the place for you!  We are currently looking for several positions in northwest and southwest Houston.


About Our Program

At Gymboree, we take a playful and active approach to learning. We know that playing and learning are inextricably linked and our “whole childâ€� approach helps children to build strong motor and social skills to better prepare them for school, all while having fun!  Parents attend all classes with their children as they explore unique songs, play instruments and games.  Lesson plans and training are provided.


Gymboree INSTRUCTORS facilitate high-energy parent-child play, arts, and music classes and birthday parties in our state-of-the-art facility using lesson plans provided by Gymboree. You must be an upbeat person who can sing unaccompanied, lead parenting discussions, multi-task, and engage children by crawling, climbing, sliding and singing with them (and encouraging their parents to do so as well!).  Music teachers must have a good musical foundation and must be able to sing well and be able to teach the basic building blocks of music (but do not need to play an instrument).  You must be very comfortable being silly in front of a group of parents and kids and encouraging them to be silly with you.

 

Life experience, dependability, and personality count more than previous work experience for the Instructor positions. However, previous experience with children and in retail sales or customer services is strongly preferred.  Applicant must be:  Dedicated to exceeding customer experience; Committed to learning and program development in an on-going training process; Demonstrate the Gymboree core value of Celebrating Childhood by developing and maintaining customer relations.

Shift times will vary by site. PART time positions are available.  This is the perfect job for someone working towards a musical degree in early childhood, a university student studying early childhood education, or a theatre major who likes working with children. This is really great for moms looking for a position while her children are in school or at home.


Teacher Skills/Qualifications

·  Pleasant and tuneful singing voice

·  Love of singing, music making and teaching

·  Group facilitation skills

·  Experience working with young children a plus

·  Playful and energetic teaching style

·  Retail experience a plus
