Job Summary:
Within a centralized financial aid structure, to advise and assist students and parents with the financial aid process. Additional responsibilities include providing information on financial aid programs, procedures and student eligibility.
Primary Responsibilities: Counsel students on financial aid opportunities and application process (i.e. FAFSA) and institutional policies and procedures by conducting phone consultations (i.e. Welcome Calls) on financing their educations. Counsel students on the document intake, awarding, disbursement and withdrawal processes. Work closely with the third party service to ensure new students are awarded. Continue to counsel prospective students to ensure they successfully complete the reapplication process in a timely manner. Maintain a working knowledge of Federal, State and Institutional Policies governing Title IV student aid programs. Communicate with students via phone, email, etc on student inquiries on financial aid questions and concerns. Complete Leave of Absence request forms as submitted by students. Provide excellent customer service to students and parents. Manage incoming calls and direct students to the appropriate person. Conduct and complete activities via Campus Vue. Assist students with completion and obtaining of necessary financial aid documents. Responsible for accounts receivable of student accounts and communicating with students on collection efforts. Review National Student Loan Database System (NSLDS) to determine student financial aid status. Conduct on going meetings with enrollment staff to communicate student needs and issues for resolve. Run and review reports on aging, activities, etc. Other duties as assigned
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Excellent customer service skills. Preferred knowledge of federal financial aid programs and regulations Proficient computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to work well with others.
Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred. 1 year of experience in an educational setting or finance background required. Financial Aid experience is a plus.
