Financial Aid Specialist (9542)

The Financial Aid Specialist audits financial aid and student loan packages received from the campuses for accuracy and completion. This position also provides feedback to Financial Aid Administrators and Directors of Finance on information required on financial aid reports. Key Responsibilities Researches financial aid submission errors and outlines steps to correct issues. Provides periodic feedback and guidance to campus personnel on accuracy of financial aid submissions and re-entry student financial assistance paperwork. Determines eligibility for Federal Work Study awards and ascertains eligible amounts. Applies and maintains a broad knowledge of principles, practices, procedures and governmental regulations as it pertains to the field of specialty. Required Skills: Bachelor's degree in Finance or a related field from an institution accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the US Department of Education or equivalent. 4 years related experience, preferable in student financial assistance or tax preparation. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, financial tracking software and the Internet. Proven experience in performing inductive and deductive reasoning to apply rules and regulations to specific problems to produce answers. Excellent communication skills along with a helpful deposition necessary to deal effectively and courteously with internal and external contacts. Ability to multi-task and handle a high pressure environment with timeline pressures. This position may occasionally require travel, including overnight travel, and some evening and weekend hours.
