Faculty, Chemistry, Full-Time, Tenure Track Fall 2009


Salem State College’s Chemistry & Physics Department is seeking to fill a tenure track faculty position The position involves teaching an upper level synthetic methods course in addition to introductory chemistry courses in the area of the candidate's expertise.  The candidate will also oversee the operation and maintenance of our NMR spectrometer.  Advising, continuing scholarship, and college service is expected.  Subject to available funding.

Required qualifications include a Ph.D degree in Chemistry or related field. 


Preferred qualifications include a Ph.D degree in Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry or Organo-metallic Chemistry.  Expertise in nuclear magnetic resonance techniques and synthetic methods.  College teaching experience and experience in and commitment to teaching in a multiracial, multiethnic environment with students of diverse backgrounds and learning styles, as well as in distance learning and instructional technologies, and candidates who enjoy serving as role models and mentors for a diverse student body.


The salary is competitive and commensurate with education and experience. Application review will begin in the Fall of 2008 and continue until an adequate pool is developed.
