F/T Reference Librarian (Interim)
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Â
1.     Develops and coordinates operational procedures for all public services departments: circulation, interlibrary loan and instructional media. Ensures proper collection of data and preparation of reports.
2.     Coordinates and participates in the provision of reference services. Develops schedules.
3.     Coordinates, directs, develops and provides instruction in critical thinking and the identification and use of information. Includes the development of information literacy programming and material, including the creation of presentations, tutorials and research guides.
4.     Collection development responsibilities, including the selection of new books and materials in assigned subject areas and evaluation of current collection, in consultation with appropriate faculty.
5.     Develops and coordinates library promotional materials, including brochures, guides for research, and web pages.
6.     Keeps current in library and other educational technology, attends professional development workshops, and works with librarians at consortia meetings.
7.     Serves on committees as assigned.
8.     Performs related duties as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Â
1.     MLS degree from an ALA accredited library school plus three years professional experience.
2.     Experience providing reference service to students.
3.     Experience providing information literacy instruction and familiarity with the ACRL Information Literacy Competency Standards for Higher Education.
4.     Excellent working knowledge of library networks, resources, and automated library technology, including online catalogs and online databases.
5.     Excellent technology skills including facility with word processing, spreadsheet, presentation and course management software and ability to adapt to new technology quickly.
6.     Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
7.     Demonstrated excellent teaching skills with groups of all sizes.
8.     Ability to work successfully with diverse groups of students, faculty, and staff in a busy, multicultural environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1.     Academic library experience.
2.     Experience working with diverse populations.
3.     Demonstrated commitment to the College’s focus on critical and creative thinking and communication competency.
4.     Preference will be given to candidates who have experience and an appreciation for and are committed to working in a global, multicultural academic setting.
